Compare a data analyst resume with a job posting
A useful application shows how you used analysis skills to answer a real question. Tool names help describe that experience, but a list of tools alone is not evidence of proficiency.
Separate tools from responsibilities
A posting may name SQL, Python, spreadsheets or a reporting platform. Also read who uses the analysis, what decisions it supports and whether the role asks for experimentation, reporting or data preparation.
Connect each claim to existing work
Identify a specific analysis, reporting task or data-quality investigation. Describe your contribution and the audience. Do not add a platform that you have not used because the employer lists it.
Preserve domain experience
Customer operations, finance or logistics experience may provide useful context. Keep that history visible while adjusting wording. Keyword coverage does not determine whether a different industry will value your experience.
Save and check one application
Retain education, projects, credentials and relevant publications. Compare the exported resume with the original, then save the exact version with the job description for later interview preparation.
